Walberton Neighbourhood Plan
Walberton Parish Council are preparing a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Walberton. Further details of the neighbourhood plan preparation are available at the Walberton Parish Council website.

| Walberton Plan ‘made’ (adopted) | The updated Walberton Neighbourhood Plan (WNDP) incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the Arun District Council Decision Statement complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and has now been formally made part of the Development Plan for the part of Walberton Parish within the South Downs National Park. The SDNPA have published the Regulation 20 ‘Adoption Statement’ which sets out more information regarding the Making of updated Walberton Neighbourhood Plan
The updated Walberton NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA in 2013. The made Walberton NDP can be viewed at the following location:

| Walberton Neighbourhood Development Plan Review |
Walberton Parish Council as Qualifying Body for the preparation of the Walberton Neighbourhood Plan have commenced a review and update of the ‘made’ Walberton Neighbourhood Plan (NDP). The Walberton NDP was made on 9 March 2017. The Qualifying Body initiated the review and update of their Neighbourhood Plan in February 2020. | Plan ‘made’ (adopted) | The Walberton NDP (Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the Arun & SDNPA Decision Statement) complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the SDNPA Planning committee resolution on 9 March 2017 has been made

| Referendum |
A referendum was held on the Walberton NDP on 1 February 2017. For more information on the referendum please click here There was a 48% turnout, with the following results:

| Decision on a Plan Proposal | On 12 September 2016, Arun District Council agreed the Decision Statement for the Walberton NDP. This sets out the modifications that will be made to the plan in response to the Examiner’s modifications
The Walberton NDP has been modified accordingly and will proceed to referendum in due course. |
| Independent Examination |
Arun District Council appointed Edward Cousins as the independent Examiner of the Walberton NDP. The examination of the Walberton Neighbourhood Plan was conducted via a public hearing held on 16 March 2016 at the Walberton Pavilion at 10.00am. | Publicising the Plan Proposal | Arun District Council published the submitted Walberton NDP for consultation from 21 October to 2 December 2015. The following documents were submitted for consultation

| Consultation on the proposed Neighbourhood Area | A consultation on an application to designate Walberton Neighbourhood Area was held from 30 August to 18 October 2012 |
